Awareness and Action Trainings
A Safe Place’s subject matter experts train sector specific professionals, organizational partners, and community members on basic human trafficking information, victim identifiers, stigma and changing perceptions, the intersections of trauma, substance abuse and trafficking and how to safely assist survivors and connect them with programs at A Safe Place.
Community Trainings
Trafficking 101 – This training covers the basics of domestic trafficking in this region. Topics include general trafficking information, the survivor profile, the trafficker profile, recruitment and marketing, the trauma of exploitation, signs of trafficking and A Safe Place’s programs.
Trafficking 101 is offered quarterly at A Safe Place’s Outreach Center at 5:30pm or by request.
2023 Dates – January 18th, April 19th, July 19th, & October 18th
The Connection between Trauma, Substance Use, & Trafficking– This training dives deeper into the effects of trafficking and the stigma that surrounds it. Topics covered include trauma and how it effects brain chemistry, adverse childhood experiences, trauma-informed care, the relationship between substance use and trafficking, stigma, how to empower survivors, and the programs at A Safe Place. This is the training offered at volunteer training sessions listed below.
Connection between Trauma, Substance Use & Trafficking is offered bi-monthly at A Safe Place’s Outreach Center at 5:30pm or by request.
2023 Dates – January 31st, March 28th, May 30th, July 25th, September 26th, & November 28th
Online Predators and Social Media – This training focuses on the way predators and traffickers target youth online and how to maintain a safe online presence. This training can be facilitated for parents or youth (age 11-16).
Online Predators & Social Media scheduled by request and hosted throughout the community.
